Alex’s skilful linguists

In the September holidays Busisiwe Chimaliro and Zinobuhle Jakavula travelled to East London to take part in the provincial round of African Intellectuals’ Day. The Grade 11 pupils were selected to participate when they came first in their respective divisions in the regional leg of the competition. Zinobuhle came first in the writing section and Busisiwe placed second in the speech division. Both of their pieces were presented in isiXhosa, which they take at First Additional level at school.
