Alexans tested at Pho3nix Foundation camp

Pho3nix2

Recently, six Alexans had the privilege of participating in the 2nd Pho3nix Foundation camp in SA. On Friday afternoon, 16 nervous and excited young athletes arrived for the start of an amazing weekend of activities. The weekend would see the athletes form incredible bonds and make long-lasting friendships. The athletes attended informative sessions, run by experts in their fields, followed with fun but educational activities which allowed the athletes to put what they had learned into practise.

On Saturday morning, they visited the Sports Science Department at NMU where they underwent tests specific to their sports. They will receive detailed reports, which will be invaluable for their training going forward. On Sunday, they joined the Ocean Racing Series and mentored a group of 16 youngsters from MTR Smit Children's Haven, thereafter joining them in the 5km run or walk. The joy of accomplishment on their faces at the finish line was so rewarding to see! From there, the athletes took part in survival team-building activities. The camp ended with an awards ceremony and a video recap of all the fun.

An enormous thank you to everyone who was involved with mentoring or assisting at the camp to help make it a resounding success.
