Alex honors IT and CAT teacher, Mr Gibson

The Alex family is saddened to share the news of the passing of past Alex teaching icon and Old Alexan, Mr Keith Gibson.

He was instrumental in developing the Computer Studies subject, not only at Alex, but for the South African education community. Mr Gibson was a widely influential IT and CAT teacher, Head of Department, and a pioneer in the field of computer education and subject curriculum and exam setting at a national level. He was instrumental in the creation of valuable resources and textbooks for the country at large and was a passionate advocate for computational thinking for all ages.

Mr Gibson was a naturally pastoral teacher who mentored and inspired countless students and staff to reach their full potential.
Mr Gibson's dedication to education, innovation, and his students, made him a legend in our school community. His warmth, wisdom, and sense of humour has left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to learn from him and work with him.

We send our thoughts to his wife, Cathy, and his family and friends. His legacy will forever be a part of the Alex ethos and a monumental cornerstone in Alex's history.
