Lockdown Message from our Principal

Alex

Dear Alex Family Members
With the recent announcement of the extension of the lockdown, many pupils and parents are understandably feeling stress and even fear, particularly with respect to what will happen when pupils eventually do return to school, and what the arrangements will be for catching up on work that has been missed. As you are aware, we are sending out a great deal of information and work online in one form or another, and pupils should make every effort to work through this at a steady pace.

It is impossible at this stage to give information about examinations, because we are waiting to hear from the Education Department about this. We also do not know if the lockdown might even be extended again. Once we know this, we will be able to let you know what arrangements will be put in place.

However, with respect to the catching up of work, we want to assure you that we are doing everything reasonable in our power to make sure that no pupil is disadvantaged as a result of the lockdown. This could include reaching work that pupils have been doing online or at home during this time.
It might mean providing extra help and classes to those pupils who need it, and to pupils who are not able to access the work that is being sent out at present. It might involve other approaches to help pupils catch up work. But whatever the situation is, we want you to know that we have plans and
strategies in place.

If you have any questions about the work or about the process, please feel free to contact any of our staff from our teams page on the school web site at www.arhs.co.za/teams. We will get back to you within 24 hours. This time has been a steep learning curve for all of us. Many of the teachers have made use of a wide variety of communication platforms, so please take advantage of the excellent work that they are doing.

We take our responsibility to make sure that no pupil gets left behind as a result of these difficult circumstances very seriously.

Please stay safe and keep your family safe.

Regards
Matthew Ridgway - Principal
